Re-Imagining Philosophers and Their Ideas
The Philosophical Society of PGGCG 11, Chandigarh organized a student seminar on ''Re-imagining Philosophers and Their Ideas" on 24th September 2021. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce different philosophers and their philosophies with the participants. The First speaker Tanvi Chauhan student of BA III year introduced and discussed the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and informed that Aurobindo emphasized on the concept of spiritual realization that not only liberates man's consciousness but also transform his nature. The Second speaker was Sheereen Khan of BA III year who discussed philosophy of Aristotle. She pointed that reality does not make sense or exist until the mind processes it. Therefore truth is dependent on external factors and person's mind. The third speaker was Ridam Mahajan of BA III year who discussed about George Berkeley's work and in detail shared the philosophy of subjective idealism. The last speaker was Greta Yendrembam of BA III year who discussed the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and his contribution for humanity. She exclaimed that according to Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy purity, patience and perseverance can overcome all obstacles. The seminar was a huge success and informative as well. At the end of the seminar Dr. Santosh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, PGGCG-11, Chandigarh also expressed his ideas on social philosophy and motivated the students to read more of philosophers and sociologists work. Insights were given by Dr Ambuj Sharma HOD (Philosophy), PGGCG-11, Chandigarh on the occasion.
