Philosophical Society: A students’ discussion forum of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh, held an insightful film discussion. The film chosen for this discussion was ‘Ship Of Theseus’, a 2012 art film revolving around lives and experiences of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and a young stockbroker who undertake a metaphysical journey in search of true meaning of identity, justice, beauty and the meaning of life and death.
The discussants for this session were Bharti Rao (B.A.II), Simran (B.A.II), Kinjal Bir Singh (B.A.III), and Tanvi Chauhan (B.A.III) who very beautifully expressed various aspects of the film. All of the discussants creatively summarized the plot of the story and familiarized the audience with the basic idea of the film. Each one of them also highlighted a particular critical and analytical element of the film that struck them the most.
After all the discussants were finished with their presentations, the platform was open for an open discussion where the present audience put forward various elemental and critical questions for the presenters and all the discussants did full justice to the answers.
This session was chaired by Sheereen Khan (B.A.III) who kept up the high spirits and enthusiasm throughout the whole session. This dialogue was concluded by an inspiring and motivational ending note by Dr. Ambuj Sharma who emphasized the importance of dialogue and critical analysis in philosophy. This event marked the inaugural in-person discussion session and paved way for surely many more to come.
