Re-Imagining Philosophers and Their Ideas
The Philosophical Society of PGGCG 11, Chandigarh organized a student seminar on ''Re-imagining Philosophers and Their Ideas" on 24th September 2021. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce different philosophers and their philosophies with the participants. The First speaker Tanvi Chauhan student of BA III year introduced and discussed the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and informed that Aurobindo emphasized on the concept of spiritual realization that not only liberates man's consciousness but also transform his nature. The Second speaker was Sheereen Khan of BA III year who discussed philosophy of Aristotle. She pointed that reality does not make sense or exist until the mind processes it. Therefore truth is dependent on external factors and person's mind. The third speaker was Ridam Mahajan of BA III year who discussed about George Berkeley's work and in detail shared the philosophy of subjective idealism. The last speaker was Greta Yendrembam of BA III year who discussed the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and his contribution for humanity. She exclaimed that according to Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy purity, patience and perseverance can overcome all obstacles. The seminar was a huge success and informative as well. At the end of the seminar Dr. Santosh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, PGGCG-11, Chandigarh also expressed his ideas on social philosophy and motivated the students to read more of philosophers and sociologists work. Insights were given by Dr Ambuj Sharma HOD (Philosophy), PGGCG-11, Chandigarh on the occasion.

Philosophical Society: A students’ discussion forum of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh, held an insightful film discussion. The film chosen for this discussion was ‘Ship Of Theseus’, a 2012 art film revolving around lives and experiences of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and a young stockbroker who undertake a metaphysical journey in search of true meaning of identity, justice, beauty and the meaning of life and death.
The discussants for this session were Bharti Rao (B.A.II), Simran (B.A.II), Kinjal Bir Singh (B.A.III), and Tanvi Chauhan (B.A.III) who very beautifully expressed various aspects of the film. All of the discussants creatively summarized the plot of the story and familiarized the audience with the basic idea of the film. Each one of them also highlighted a particular critical and analytical element of the film that struck them the most.
After all the discussants were finished with their presentations, the platform was open for an open discussion where the present audience put forward various elemental and critical questions for the presenters and all the discussants did full justice to the answers.
This session was chaired by Sheereen Khan (B.A.III) who kept up the high spirits and enthusiasm throughout the whole session. This dialogue was concluded by an inspiring and motivational ending note by Dr. Ambuj Sharma who emphasized the importance of dialogue and critical analysis in philosophy. This event marked the inaugural in-person discussion session and paved way for surely many more to come.

Adieu Seniors BA III Class of Session 2020-2021
The Philosophical Society of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh organised an online event on Google Platform to bid adieu to the seniors. The evening of 14th September came with the blessings for the batch 2018- 2021 as the Philosophy family joined together on a virtual platform. That evening was filled with mixed emotions for everyone who joined the meeting to witness the send- off to our seniors who were so supportive and helpful in all these years. They have been a constant support for all the juniors. The seniors one by one shared their favorite memories which they made in the college..
To take the seniors on a roller-coaster ride on this campus filled with a plethora of emotions, an amazing video was prepared by Ms Tanvi Chauhan to let them relive the moments of College Campus. The video made everyone emotional and put everyone in the perfect mood. Following this was a dance performance by Pooja dedicated to the amazing and incredible friendships that had made our college lives worth it. Also, the poetry was recited by Tanvi and Shivani to brighten up the mood of the gathering. To wrap up the program, Jahanvi and Sheereen proposed a vote of thanks, expressing the gratitude on behalf of whole Philosophy Department in making the event a grand success and to express the special thanks again to our seniors.
Indeed, the 14th September, was a memorable day both for the outgoing batch and the current batch.
