
























The 64th Annual Athletic Meet of Post-Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh was held today. The Meet took off with a vibrant start with the inauguration by the Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal. She hoisted the college flag and took salute from the colourfully dressed marching contingents of students of different streams. Students of the college, who excelled in various national, state and inter-university championships in various sports events during this academic session, lit the torch. The athletes took oath to compete with a sense of sportsmanship. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief-guest for the Closing Ceremony; and Sh.Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, Deputy Inspector General was the Guest of Honour. The Principal read out the College Sports Report and highlighted the glorious achievements of the students of the college at national and international level. Self-defence demonstration by the students was applauded by one and all. The students of Dance Department presented Luddi which was a prize-winning performance in the Youth and Heritage Festival. Congratulating the winners Chief Guest Sh. Sanjay Baniwal appreciated the students and faculty members whose persistent and untiring efforts made the glorious achievements in sports possible at various levels. He stressed that the youth of today is the master of their own destiny; one should not be deterred by the failures as they serve as the milestones to success. He motivated the students to excel in their field of choice and bring laurels to the institution and country. Dr. Arpana Baniwal, an alumna of the college, and wife of Chief Guest Sh. Sanjay Baniwal also graced the occasion. She released the 5th edition of the Newsletter of the Alumni Association “Nostalgia”. Chief Guest Sh. Sanjay Baniwal gave away the prizes to the winners. Dr. Ambuj Sharma, Head, Department of Philosophy was part of Anchor Team of the Meet. He won the Third Prize in the Musical Chair event organized for Faculty, PGGCG-11 during the Sports Meet. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Assistant Professor from Punjabi Department secured First and Dr. Sangam Kapoor, Head, Department of Commerce secured the Second Position in the event. It is also matter of great pride that Ms Rakhi Antil, Under Officer, NCC, PGGCG11 1 CHD Girls Battalion was the Commander of entire NCC Contingent P.G.G.C.G. 11 during Annual Athletic Meet (March Past Army Wing) and Ms Babysana Norem, an N.C.C. Cadet had the privilege of Piloting the Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh on the occasion.
