On June 4, 2021, the Department Of Philosophy, P.G.G.C.G.-11, Chandigarh, organized their Annual Philosophy Fest ‘Juvenescere 2021’ (Inter-College), under the guidance of Madam Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal. This fest consisted of a series of inter-college competitions (Group Declamation, Poetry, Photograph and Videography Competition) where students of various colleges participated. The event provided opportunity to students to engage learn and celebrate various dimensional topics. This year the taking in notice the pandemic situations this event was conducted via online platform. The theme for this year was selected to be ‘Ordinary/Unordinary’, to celebrate all the little ‘ordinary’ things that turned ‘unordinary’ for us. In the Inaugural session Ms Smriti Garg (B.A.III) and Ms Harleen Kaur (B.A.III), on behalf of the Department extended a hearty welcome to the participants. They presented an introduction and the idea behind Juvenescere and the concept of the theme. The first event was the panel discussion on the film ‘Life Of Pi’ in which student panellists actively participated. This event was moderated by Ambika Sharma (B.A. III). From each year, students came up with their own point of views and thoughts about the film. Ishaani Tanta (B.A. III) put forward the idea of human effort for survival. Sheereen Khan (B.A.II) emphasized the parallels drawn between the two stories narrated by Pi Patel. Tanvi Chauhan (B.A.II) brought upon the fact that we as humans are bound by ethical responsibilities. Bharti (B.A.I) and Simran (B.A.I) also brought in light the critical aspects of the film. Along with the student panelist, Dr. Ambuj Sharma, Head, Department of Philosophy of the College also put forward his views and thoughts on the philosophical aspects of the film. He also put forward an insightful question about how we watch films. As a Resource Person Panellist for the event Dr. Vijaya Singh, faculty, Department of English Post Graduate Government College, Sector-11, Chandigarh, discussed various concepts like paradox of life, culture, time and technology engaged in the film and offered creative dialogue on the idea and making of the film. The agenda was carried forward by Kinjal Bir (B.A.II) who introduced the philosophical society report of the session 2020-2021 with the participants. It was followed by the Inter-College Group Declamation Competition Topic “Minimalism”. There were 3 participant teams who put forward their own unique ideas and uniquely beautiful presentations showcasing their excellent stage persona. Other than these, many other events like Photography and Videography contest and poetry contest were also conducted. The Chief Guest of the Fest was Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, Principal, P.G.G.C.G.-11, Chandigarh, who on the occasion delivered the presidential address and felicitated the winners with E-Certificates. She commended the organization team and faculty for organizing such a wonderful event and highlighted the importance of philosophy in literature and every field of life. She appreciated all the insightful views that were presented in the event and congratulated the faculty and students of the Department for successfully organizing the event. In the declamation competition, Astitva (B.A.II) and Anshita(B.A.II) from DAV college (sec-10) bagged the first position , followed by Tanvi (B.A.II) and Simran(B.A.I) from PGGCG-11 at second position and Shruti(B.A.I) and Drishti(B.A.I) from MCM DAV at third position. In poetry contest Tanvi (B.A.II)PGGCG-11 bagged the first position followed by Bharti Singh (M.A. II) from MCM DAV at a close second position and Anmol Singh(B.A.III) from PGGC-11 at the third position. Aastha Sharma(B.COM. I) from MCM DAV won the first poition in photography contest followed be Anmol Singh (B.A.III) from PGGC-11 at second position and Ishani Tanta (B.A.III) from PGGCG-11 at the third position. In videography competition, Ambika Sharma (B.A.III) from PGGCG-11 won the first position, followed by Tanvi Chauhan (B.A.II) from PGGCG-11 securing second position and Simran Kaur (B.A.I) from PGGCG-11 at the third position. On the occasion Prof. Geeta Manaktala (Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, Chandigarh), Dr. Shilpi Ahuja (Faculty, Department of English, D.A.V. College, Sector 10, Chandigarh) and Mr, Lallan Singh Baghel ( Faculty, Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, Chandigarh) also provided some wonderful insights on the event and the topics discussed throughout in the Fest. A thank you note was delivered by Ms. Bharti (B.A.I) on behalf of Philosophical Society. The event was closed off by Dr. Ambuj Sharma, (Faculty, Department of Philosophy), who expressed his humble gratitude to everyone who joined the event. He thanked madam Principal and all the guest speakers and judges who took time off their schedules to be a part of this event. He also appreciated all the participants and members of the philosophical society for making this event a huge success.
