Invited Online Extension Lecture on “Women in Stories and Stories in Women: Some Critical Reflection” by Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Faculty in English, University School of Open Learning (U.S.O.L.) Panjab University, Chandigarh

Under the able guidance and support of the College Principal, Celebrating International Women's Day – 2021, the Department of Philosophy of the College organized an online Extension Lecture on the theme “Women in Stories and Stories in Women: Some Critical Reflections” on 04.03.2021 at the Google Meet portal. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, faculty of English, University School of Open Learning, Panjab University, Chandigarh, as the resource person, delivered the Lecture. Dr. Jaiswal in the first part of his presentation introduced the participants with the concept of story and storytelling. He said “Stories are essential part of our lives and culture. It has deep impact on the social and cultural understanding of society and its people”. In the second part of his presentation, Speaking about “Women in Stories and Stories in Women”, he introduced the participants with two stories one by Dharamvir Bharti's Gulki Banno and Apne Apne Marsiye. The stories revolved around the whole idea of woman, herself identity, dignity and role in society. The lecture was followed by creative discussion among the participants. It was attended by the students and faculty from the College and Panjab University. The lecture and deliberations provided new perspectives to women studies and issues engaging gender equality and justice.
