Department of Philosophy Wall Magazine ‘REFLOSOPHY’ Online Release followed by Discussion

The Department of Philosophy of the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organized the release of the first ever edition of its Department of Philosophy Wall Magazine 2019-20 event followed by discussion on 9th October, 2020 on Google Meet platform. The whole Department of Philosophy became a part of this virtually held release day event. College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal released the magazine and appreciated the students and faculty for the creative endeavour. The magazine consist the book and film reviews contributed by the Department students. All in all, the whole event and the Wall-Magazine were a big success and the months of students’ and their teacher’s hard work finally paid off. The event was followed by discussion among students.

Students’ Interactive Session / Samvaad on “Why Philosophy?"

The Philosophical Society organised an Interactive session: SAMVAAD 2020 at Google Meet Platform on the theme - Why Philosophy? In this interactive session, 1st year students interacte with 2nd and 3rd year students for the first time. Students of 1st year were welcomed with virtual cards by 2nd and 3rd year. This session dwelled on various activities such as students presented their views on issues and concepts of philosophy which they deal in everyday life. At the beginning of the session, students of 2nd and 3rd year spoke about their perspective of seeing Philosophy. Following then, Manipuri students from 2nd year presented a short video of their culture and traditions to interact more with 1st year. This session helped the department to strengthen the relation between the students. Also, it inspired the 1st year students to construct their bond with the seniors. The dialogue generated knowledge as experiences of students benefitted the department as all came to know about everyone's perspective on “how they see Philosophy”. Everyone enjoyed a lot during this interactive session and dispersed with a sincere hope that such events should be organized time and again giving the students a chance to share their experiences.
